March 27, 2012

Franklin's FIRST Robotics team competed this past week in Richmond against 59 other teams from Virginia, North Carolina, and one team from Connecticut.  The game this year was a basketball game.  The robots had to pick up balls off the floor and shoot the balls into baskets of varying heights. Matches ended with one or two robots trying to balance on a bridge together (teeter-totter type of structure).  The competition ran for two days.  Franklin's team made it to the semi-finals, playing out all 3 matches before losing in the last minutes of the competition.

The students and mentors on the team are: Grant Scarboro, Darryl West, Clinton Smith, Madi Busby, Lorene Lowe, Lizzie Conner, Jennifer Mummert, Sarah King, Cindy Mitrovic, Sarah Conner, Connor Shanks, Oakley Sthole, Mr. Hank Mummert, Mr. Don Shanks, Mr. Kyle Johnson, Mr. John Neave, Mr. Mike Forrest, and Mrs. Liz Burgess.
